The big names in the game industry have slowly been bringing smartphones and mobile devices into the overall experience they offer to their users. It was just a little while ago when Microsoft really began pushing this with the SmartGlass idea.
Sony has taken a different approach. They have been far more subtle, and instead focused on the companion app. It really should not come as a big surprise. The reason Sony has became extremely cautious is because they failed so badly with their PlayStation Mobile. At the same time, Nintendo are excited with their plan to join the mobile party at some point in the new year.
No matter which model of Android phone you have, Sony already offers a number of excellent apps available for Android, which also includes a dedicated PlayStation app. What’s nice about the PlayStation app is that it lets you remotely download games to your PS4, see who is currently online, and purchase games that are on sale. Now, Sony has also released PlayStation Messages.
PlayStation Messages is an Android app that provides PlayStation players with a method to communicate with each other regardless of where they are located. To use PlayStation Messages, all the player needs is a PlayStation Network account, and then they will be able to use this new app for communication at any time, even when they are on the move and changing locations frequently.
As expected, there are numerous PlayStation characters that players are able to use during their chats. In addition, players can also chat with other users in a group with up to 100 players at a time. The new PlayStation Messages app can also be used effectively as a messaging app on your Android. However, it wasn’t designed to replace Google Hangouts or WhatsApp.
